The Whistler frames are designs derived from the tastes of the famous painter James McNiel Whistler. He was a notorious "Dandy" and his desire for simplicity led him to gilding on raw, (un-gessoed) wood. Although his tastes were "extreme" they were nevertheless consistent. Whistler's designs endure and are the source of many contemporary frame and molding designs throughout the world.
